EAGLES DEMOLISH RAVENS
FANGIO HELD THE RAVENS TO 12 POINTS
The final score was skewed by a garbage time TD drive that shouldn’t even have gotten off of the ground if the officials had noticed any of the numerous Eagles players being held during Lamar’s meaningless scramble. That seemed to be an ongoing theme for the game.
The Eagles defense had already switched from QUINYONAMO BAY to BAYSIDE HIGH, which is where everyone plays way, way back and we all have a fuzzy feeling inside. The game was already over and I’m not entertaining those meaningless points. For all intents and purposes, the Vic Fangio led defense completely neutered the best offense in the NFL.
NOT MY KING
Cooper DeJean effectively ended the game when he came flying down the field and snatched Derrick Henry’s soul and then drove him directly into the dirt with a textbook tackle. What DeJean did was the defensive equivalent of Saquon’s reverse hurdle. Completely unexpected, previously thought to be impossible. If Derrick Henry is the “King” then this was CHECKMATE.
A lot of credit has to go to Zack Baun here. He set the tone early when he caught Henry in the backfield lacking and laid him out for a loss. Tone setter, leading by example. He also got into the backfield and unleashed his alter ego, SACK BAUN. What an absolute stud.
the CJGJ resigning was a master stroke
He is not a distraction. He is not a selfish player. He is not freelancing. He understood the assignment. He also rallied the defense together on the sidelines after the Eagles fell to an early nine point deficit and basically said, “Yo! What the hell is this shit? This is not who we are. This is not how we play. Everyone go out there and play our brand of football.” Except he said it in the kind of way that lit a fire under the entire defenses ass. They held the Ravens to 3 points for the rest of the game. 3 points!!! (I’ve already discussed the GARBAGE TIME stat padding. Do Not Feed the PADDINGTON BEARS. They will keep coming back and saying things like “Well actually, the (insert stupid meaningless stat here) would indicate. Shut up! Shut all the way up.
BANK HEIST
The exact moment I knew the Eagles were going to win this game was when A.J. Brown showed up dressed up like some kind of Bank Robber.
And sure enough, the Eagles went into THE BANK and completely manhandled Lamar Jackson. We had their Franchise QB seeing ghosts, took the Ravens lunch money, and buried their King. Exactly how all the pundits were saying it would happen.
Except…
NO ONE LIKES US, IT’S KIND OF ANNOYING, BUT WE OWN IT
The first part of the word pundit is PUN. Which is a terrible joke. So, always remember when dealing with a “PUNdits” opinion. It’s just some joker saying things to fill up time and attempt to elicit a reaction.
As far as everyone except for Randy Moss picking the Ravens. Who cares? They literally got Mossed. Randy called Eagles. Eagles won. We have passed yet another “test” that we won’t get credit for and TBH, I really don’t care anymore.
If they hate, then let ‘em hate and watch the money pile up.
BANK meet HEIST.
YOU SAY GAME MANAGER LIKE IT’S A BAD THING
When asked about people’s perception that he’s a “game manager” Jalen Hurts, the consummate professional, field general and franchise Quarterback of the Philadelphia Eagles said, “People have different terms.” And then instead of getting offended, basically broke down why, yes in fact part of his job as an NFL starting quarterback is to manage the game. To play within the scheme. To make sure the offense is running how it’s supposed to. This is such a wonderful contrast to what we could be dealing with. If Hurts had a fragile ego, when we were down nine points, he could have started trying to play hero ball. He could have come into the game with the attitude “I’ll show these assholes who can win a shoot-out.” and just audibled a bunch of pass plays.
That’s not what happened. He stayed the course. The result. He wasn’t perfect. He didn’t let his ego affect his decision making and the Eagles left Baltimore with a win. And in a most shocking turn of events (to those who don’t understand him) he was all smiles. Jalen Hurts doesn’t care about anyone’s opinion. He is happy when the team is playing together and up to their standard. That’s it. He’s a winner. He’s a leader and to be completely frank, I’d take him over any other QB in the NFL right now because of intangibles.
You remember those numbers and stats? And pundit’s opinions? I don’t care about them either.
I’m happiest when the team is playing together and winning.
